Look Where You Want to Go
There are few things more exhilarating than going into a beautiful sweeping curve on a motorcycle at a speed just below the limits of our capability. As we lean the motorcycle into the curve, we are in a delicate balance between gravity, which is trying to pull us down, and centrifugal force which is keeping us up. There are many skills that are necessary to successfully navigate the curve, but one is essential:
Look Where You Want to Go.
That means we have to keep our eye fixed on that spot at the end of the curve where we want to end up. As long as we look where we want to go, the motorcycle will take us there. But if we take our eyes off that spot and look straight down, what we see is terrifying - asphalt whizzing by at a speed too fast for our minds to process. We panic, tense up and overcontrol the bike. Overcontrolling a motorcycle in the middle of a difficult curve is a recipe for disaster. It usually results in a crash.
I want to use this example as a metaphor for your New Year’s Resolution weight loss journey. Most people commit to losing weight in the new year, and most fail.
Check out this video to see how this motorcycle wisdom can help you lose weight.
