Focus = Inner State = Behavior
It's Sunday morning, and I'm in the re-entry phase after arriving from a beautiful week at the Modern Elder Academy Master class in Baja.
Like the waves in the ocean, the week built to a crescendo and crashed into the froth of the sweet goodbyes, crowds at the Cabo airport, and news of the Coronavirus.
Why did we feel so alive and full of love for a week? One of the answers to that question came me to from a book I read recently, The Power of TED, by David Emerald. He introduces the concept of FISBE. What we FOCUS on (F) creates our INNER STATE (IS) which influences our BEHAVIOR (BE).
At MEA, we focus on nature which creates an inner state of awe, wonder, and appreciation of the beauty of the world. We spend more time in the deeper realms of our consciousness.
We focus on the outer and inner beauty of other people, and our inner state evolves to "I love you." (Thank you Joshua Abramson.).
We interact with each other, free from ego.
We focus on the future which frees us from the societal curse of the fear of aging.
Our inner state becomes filled with hope and aspiration. (Thank you Chip Conley.)
We start taking intentional action to leave footprints that others will want to follow.
Thank you to my beautiful cohort, and the incredible staff of MEA for helping me experience this concept in real time for a week.
We get what we think about whether we want it or not. Might as well think about what we want, don’t you think?
