A Mid-Week Oasis
"Through the practice of meditation, we open the door to inner transformation, inviting peace, harmony, and profound connection with ourselves and the world around us."
I started this blog to overcome my own insecurities and fears about writing for public consumption. I had a mindset that convinced me that I didn’t have anything to say that people would want to read about, and I believed wasn’t able to say even that meager information very well.
I decided to take a risk and write like nobody was reading, a take on that old meme, dance like nobody’s watching. Much to my surprise, I now have 50 subscribers. Maybe I do have something to say.
Now, I’m taking another risk. I want to become a mindfulness and meditation teacher. I’m enrolled in a six-month teacher training program by Justin Michael Williams, an amazing young man who has transformed his life with his own meditation practice which has led him to become a Grammy award winner.
I want to introduce people, especially older adults, to meditation’s transformative effects - reduced stress, greater clarity of thought, and maybe most importantly, greater happiness in the second half of life.
I have a homework assignment to achieve my mindfulness and meditation teacher certification. Between now and September, I have to conduct 30 guided meditation sessions. To satisfy that requirement, I’m scheduling free 30-minute meditation sessions on Zoom every Wednesday at 7:00 PM CST starting June 21. I’m inviting you to help me with my homework.
If you’re an experienced meditator, you’ll find this to be a 30-minute oasis in the middle of the week. If you’re new to meditation, I hope you will find it to be an introduction to a practice that can bring more clarity and joy to your life.
Register for our session at the link below. You will receive a confirmation email with a link to the session on Wednesday.
